| I'm home for Spring Break <3
Wonderful! I got home around 1:30 or so. Got all my stuff in the house. My parents were waiting on the porch for me, which was funny. We got new furniture, and apparently my mom now cooks. She has a binder of recipies. I have no idea what's going on at 246 Hanover Street. This afternoon I kind of just sat here and talked to my mom a lot. I haven't been home in two months, so we had a lot to catch up on. I fell asleep on my couch from about 3:30 until 7. It felt so good to just rest and not have anything to do. I've been so worn out all semester. Then I got up and finally watched the second half of the documentary on my Rent DVD. Then I was in the mood to watch Rent, so I watched it up til the end of La Vie Boheme, and then I didn't feel like watching a movie anymore. Then I talked to Dom online for a little while, but we were both being really boring. Now I'm watching Conan in Finland. And talking to Katie, Cam and Julie.
So let's see, the rest of break: tomorrow, me and Jamie are going to Timonium to eat Qdoba. I'm excited, because everytime I want Qdoba at school, no one (DOM BARILARO) wants to eat it with me, and I never get to have it. Who goes to Timonium for lunch though? I don't even know. Then I don't know what I'm doing. Going to Target, I think. And the mall, possibly, I just need to shop or something. Heidi and Kelly are coming here tomorrow night after some party they are going to. And I'm gonna stay up and watch Arctic Monkeys on SNL. I couldn't even tell you how long it's been since I've watched SNL. I don't even know who is on it anymore. I kind of hope it's funny again.
Sunday, Benny's 2nd bday. Excited for that, because I love little kids :) Monday, Billy Joel concert. Scary driving to Philadelphia, even though I'm not the one that is driving. Dom says to call him every 5 minutes so he knows we're okay on I-95. Now tell me how the distraction of a cell phone will make this ride safer? But nice to know he worries about me :)
Monday, after concert: going to Dom's house for a few days. I know it seems lame that we're spending time together over break, but it's a nice change to spend time together at home. Plus my family wanted to see him, and his mom told me to come for a few days, so it'll be good. At his house, I think we're just gonna be lazy. Crash, Good Night and Good Luck, and A Beautiful Mind are on the agenda. One time we said we were going to play tennis, but I'm not sure if that was truth or not. I'm going to let him down when I can't return the ball even one time. Then on Thursday morning we're coming to my house. Friday we're going to DC to hit up some museums. How dorky! I'm weirdly excited for it.
Sunday it's back to school. But I'm excited to have this time away, and it's getting warm and all.
I probably won't update for the rest of the semester. Fun stuff coming up though. Seeing the Arctic Monkeys at the 9:30 club in DC on the 27th. Editors and Stellastarr in Philly on April 1st. Then Coldplay on the 6th and Death Cab and Franz Ferdinand on the 8th. Concert overload. Plus Superfest is around the corner, and I still have so much work to do! Oh, and I'm running for UAB Pres for next year. Out of control. I never thought I'd be brave enough to run for president of anything.
Ah, and finally! I got a Wellness for next year. Exciting times :) Goodbye dorms!!! I think I need a better job than John Herr's Village Market, however. Just in general.
| I said I wouldn't update this again forever, and yet here I am like, 4 days later. I'm just very bored right now. I have to work from 4-8 tonight, so I can't really do anything with my afternoon because I still have to get a shower and straighten my hair also, which will take about an hour of my day, so in reality, I'm down to about 2 and a half hours to kill before I go to work. So 20 minutes of that can be used to write in my xanga.
So, I had a very excellent weekend. Saturday night, I "worked". I was supposed to work 2-6:45, but on Friday night, my boss called and asked if I'd work 3-8 instead. I didn't want to say yes, because I was going to Dom's after work, and I hate driving on Route 30 when it's nighttime, but I was in the shower when he called, and my mom was relaying the messages, so I wasn't going to make her fight with him for me. So I get to work on Saturday, and I figure that the reason they want me to stay the extra hour is because someone else called off. The truth? Because the closing manager wanted to be able to watch the Redskins game and didn't want to have to be called up to deal with stuff while it was on. But he didn't ask them to get me to stay the extra hour, so I just asked him if he cared if I left at 7 anyway, and he said that was fine. So I just made some signs, and I made them in the break room so I could watch the football also, so work went by pretty fast.
So after work, I went to Dom's house. I didn't get there until like 8:30, so we went out and grabbed something to eat quickly, and then we came back and watched Wedding Crashers, which was hilarious. And then I had a really bad laughing fit, which apparently became contagious to him, so we laughed a lot for awhile, but it was funny. Then stupid Street Smarts came on, which he like, plans his life around, so we watched that. And then I think we went to bed at like, 4, but it took forever to fall asleep, and I don't think I actually fell asleep for good until like, 6:00. Then on Sunday, we got up at 12:30, and then we just watched football and I fell back asleep sometime around 2:30 for a little while. Then we watched the Steelers game (and they won!!!) and ate dinner with his family. I'm starting to feel a lot more comfortable with his family, I wasn't nervous this time at all. Then on Sunday night we watched War of the Worlds, and probably Street Smarts again, and then I think we didn't go to bed until about 4 that night either. And then on Monday, we woke up around 11 or so, but were really lazy and didn't actually get up until 12 (plus then I fell back asleep for a half hour while he was getting a shower). Then once I finally got up and got ready, we went out and got lunch. Then I had to leave because I had to work at 4. And I didn't think of how traffic would be, so I was late to work.
Work was okay last night, I was kind of in a bad mood though, I guess because I was tired, so I don't think I was very nice at work last night. I'm sure I was fine to the customers, but I wasn't so nice to the people I was working with. Oh well. I was fine by the end of the shift. It was just me and Nick, so it was very old school, which is always enjoyable. I miss the old days of Wetzel's, for sure. Today I also have to work, but then I'm off tomorrow, so I think I'll probably start getting packed to go back to school, because I work on Thursday from 11-8, so there won't be much time to do it then. Okay, this was probably actually my last update for awhile, so enjoy it.
| It's been 956 days since I joined xanga. Wow! That's a big number!
Actually, that's like, more than 2 and a half years. The other day I went back and was reading the beginning of this thing, because I was bored, and it's just crazy that I was still in high school when I started writing in it. Things have changed SO much since then it's crazy. Well, I guess they have, and they haven't. I don't know.
So, winter break is almost over, and it was in some ways VERY uneventful and in some ways VERY eventful. This entry has been nothing but indecisive so far. I didn't really do much of anything during break, and I also did not work nearly as much as I usually would during a break. There was one week where I worked 32 hours, but besides that, it's been like, less than 20 hours every week, which has been nice.
I feel like this break went by kind of faster than I was expecting it to, even though it seems like a long time ago that I was at school. Christmas also feels like it was ages ago. My Christmas was just okay this year. It was mostly good, but we had a little family fight while we were at my Grandpa's house, and things kind of ended on a bad note I guess. Besides that though, nice Christmas. Christmas with my parents was really good, it was just the extended family part that made it not so great. I got some cool presents though- seasons 1 and 2 of Friends, so I finally have all 10, and I got the Live 8 DVDs, which I've been slowly making my way through over the course of the break. I got money and gift cards and what not too, which are all spent and gone, and I couldn't even tell you on what.
Two days after Christmas, I met Dom's family. I was really nervous. So nervous, in fact, that on my way, I got into a car accident. It probably really ACTUALLY wasn't because I was nervous, but nonetheless, I got in a car accident. I was on Route 30, near the outlets, and I wanted to switch lanes before the lanes merged, so I turned around to see if anyone was in my blind spot, and I hit the back corner of the car in front of me. Put a hole in their car, and mine too. So now I'm driving a car with a large hole in the front corner, and I feel like people are looking at my car like I always look at people's dented cars and think what an awful driver they must be. The people who I hit were really nice though. No one was hurt, thank goodness, and they were really nice about it. I guess I'd be nice too, if I knew that a poor college student was going to be paying to fix my car. There was no way it wasn't my fault. Anyway though, then I had something nice and embarassing to meet Dom's family with. They probably think I'm a terrible driver too. Oh well, it is kind of the truth, I guess. His family was nice though. I was so nervous I could've thrown up about 5 seconds before I knew I was actually going to meet them, but it went well, I think.
The rest of the week after Christmas was boringish. I worked a lot, especially in the mornings, so I was really tired for the rest of that week. New Years' Eve, I went to Dom's house, and I met some of his friends from home, who were very nice also. Then he came here for New Years' Day and met my family, which went well also. They really liked him. He stayed til the Tuesday after New Years, so it was nice to get to spend some time with him. We were going to go to the Inner Harbor the day after New Years' but it was raining, so we just went out to breakfast and then hung out at my house instead and then we went to see the Producers, which was really funny.
This past Wednesday, I had off of work, so my plan was just to be lazy all day and watch lots of episodes of Friends. However, about 10 minutes after I woke up, Jamie asked me if I wanted to go on a delivery to Ocean City with him. After going back and forth about it for about 5 minutes, I decided that I couldn't pass up a trip to the beach, so I agreed. Glad I did. It was a fun trip- I had only been over the Bay Bridge once, because we go a weird way when we go to the beach, and that bridge is crazy! I'm glad I'm not afraid of heights, but Jamie is, and he was minorly freaking out. My dad can't even drive over that bridge. I think I'd enjoy driving over it. So anyway, we actually got to Ocean City around 5:30 and did the delivery and stuff. We only got lost maybe like, 3 times, but not so lost that we couldn't fix it. Just a few missed exits and stuff. So then after the delivery, we decided that we wanted Grotto's Pizza, because it's amazing, and Jamie had never had it. So we drove through Ocean City, from the Inlet to 145th, which was completley dead, and very weird. Jamie had also never seen Ocean City, so I pointed out a lot of things for him. It was soooo weird to see it at that time of year. So then we went to look for Grotto's, but the ones in Fenwick and Bethany were closed, so we had to go to the one in Rehobeth. It was good, I had my favorite pizza in the world-- the sauceless with cheese and onions. Mmm. Jamie ate an entire large pizza himself. It was gross. So then, after we ate pizza, we were like, 20 feet from the beach, and thought that it would be really lame to say we were that close and didn't actually go to the beach. So we went to the beach, and then in the same fashion, decided that we had to go in the Ocean. So we took off our shoes and stuff, and I wanted to roll up my jeans, but I guess Jamie thought I was wimping out, and he dragged me in, so my jeans got wet too, and I had to deal with that the whole way home. The ocean was SO. COLD. Awful. I screamed a lot. And swore a little bit. But it was fun, and I think I laughed about it for a good 20 minutes. So then we drove home without getting lost. Got home around 11. It was a fun waste of a day. I told Jamie it was like a Frenaissance for us, and he just made fun of me for using a word like Frenaissance.
Thursday and Friday were pretty much boring. Thursday I just worked, and Friday I went shopping. Today I work 3-8, then I'm going to Dom's for the rest of the weekend. This will probably be the last time I update this in FOREVER. I'm not even sure what made me do it today, I guess I'm that bored. Well, goombye! (That's for Amy, haha.)
| It's been about a week since I wrote in this, and I have 10 minutes to kill, so sounds about right. Nothing too eventful in the past week, I have a crap load of work right now, including a 10-page paper due on Thursday that is only 6-pages written, with nothing really left to say, and another 3-page paper due on Thursday that shouldn't be that bad, it's just like when the hell am I going to write it? I seriously can't believe how this semester is flying by. Only 15 days until Thanksgiving break, counting weekends, which is just insane.
This past weekend was nice. Friday night, I went to the mall with Angie and Kristin, we had a good time. I got a sweater and the new Franz Ferdinand CD. And some really good chapstick. Then I came back here and hung out with the guys for a bit. Made them watch the OC, which was funny. Saturday I worked from 8-1, then I took a nap and watched a movie with Nicole and Casey. Saturday night I rearranged the UAB office for a little while with Angie, Jim and Erin. It looks a little better already! Then I went over to Angie and Kristin's and watched Loveactually. Then I came back here and watched Cool Runnings with Adrian. I watched a LOT of movies on Saturday! Sunday was full of pretty much nothing-- worked on my paper almost all day and watched football. That was about it.
So last night, while I was at work, Erin called me to let me know that I scheduled Superfest during Easter weekend. I cannot believe I didn't think to check which weekend Easter was! So now everything has to be rescheduled, which isn't a HUGE deal, but it's not something I was planning on having to deal with this week. Oh well, such is life. I was really angry about it at first, but I'm calmed down about it now.
